Stroller Yoga

All too often, society puts pressure on new moms to shed that baby weight too quickly.  Celebrities like Jessica Alba and Brooke Burke Charvet admit to using corsets to help shrink their waistlines to get them back to pre-baby shape.

In fact, Ob/Gyn Dr. Jen Landa says, “Things will be softer for a while. Things will be mushier for a while. There’s artificial pressures placed on us from the things that we see in magazines and TV, like Jessica Alba who got back that amazing figure within just a couple of months of having the baby.”

But there are other alternatives that aren’t just good for new mommies’ physical health, but also their mental well-being.  That’s where Stro-Ga (a.k.a. Stroller Yoga) comes in to play. Stro-Ga combines some of the basic yoga exercises but utilizes the stroller as part of the workout. This allows mommy and baby to spend time together.  But it also allows new moms to have a core group who share the same experiences, all while getting out of the house and enjoying some much-needed fresh air and time to be with other adults.  It focuses on getting mom back in shape and also giving her some emotional support.
